In 2013, I left my 10-year corporate marketing career behind to launch my own career consultancy. Prior to starting my own small business, I could definitely envision the upside of self-employment: freedom to do work I really enjoyed, control over my time, autonomy to make my own decisions, and flexibility to work where and how I wish.

However, running my own business the past five years has also left me with a mix of emotions. I’m really happy with my life and work–arguably much happier than when I was an employee in the corporate world. However, I’ve also faced some surprising emotions along the way, including some longing for the things I used to have in the corporate world.

In my first Forbes article on How I Felt After Quitting My Corporate Job To Run My Own Business, I share my candid views on becoming self-employed after saying farewell to my cushy full-time corporate job–what I miss from my days in the corporate world and what I don’t.
