Today, I’m really excited to announce that Career Relaunch has secured its first official sponsors for the show. When I launched this podcast last September 2016, my vision was to curate a collection of audio stories that could provide companionship and inspiration to people navigating the confusing and sometimes solitary journey of relaunching their careers.
Nearly a year after embarking on this journey to create my first podcast, Career Relaunch has been growing its listenership slowly but surely. When I released the first episode, I have to admit, I wondered if anyone out there was listening to the show! But over time, I began hearing from more and more people from the US to the UK to Australia to Canada who were enjoying the stories.
Why bring sponsors onto the show?
I’m still figuring things out on the podcast, and doing everything I can do grow the audience. Producing this podcast is something I really enjoy, and I plan to continue producing the show as long as I can. However, every episode takes a lot of time, money, and effort to produce, so I’ve been looking for ways to bolster my own resources to keep producing the show in a high quality way that does justice to the people sharing their personal stories.
One of the ideas I had early on was to eventually bring on sponsors to help support the show and expand its reach. Beginning in this week’s Episode 19, I’ll be featuring the first of these sponsors on the show, BrandYourself, a service I use myself and recommend to all my clients and audiences. I will also be featuring General Assembly, a career change school I’ve tracked for years and truly feel can benefit people interested in skilling up to open new doors in their careers. Career Relaunch listeners can take advantage of special deals that benefit you, these sponsors, and also my podcast. Find the discount codes on my Sponsor Lists page.
My approach to sponsorship
If you’re a loyal listener to the show, rest assured that I absolutely do NOT want each show littered with irrelevant ads. As a podcast listener myself, I find it disappointing when a show gets overrun with ads that have nothing to do with the content. So I’m approaching sponsorship very delicately. The last thing I want to do is introduce something that will detract from creating a quality listening experience for you. Therefore, my plan with sponsorship is to:
- Give shout-outs to these sponsors in a way that’s subtle, not too intrusive, and even enjoyable to listen to.
- Avoid using “pre-rolls” where these sponsorship spots air before the episode even begins.
- Striking a good balance between explaining who the sponsor is without rambling on too long about them.
- Only featuring sponsors I genuinely feel can benefit you on your career journey–services and products I’ve used myself and/or would not hesitate to use.
On with the show!
I hope you enjoy hearing more about the sponsors I have chosen to feature, and if you know of a relevant, reputable, and reliable product or service you feel would align well with the ethos of Career Relaunch, I’d welcome hearing your suggestion via my contact form. As always, thanks so much for being a listener. If you haven’t already done so already, I’d welcome you subscribing to the show and leaving a 5-star review for Career Relaunch on iTunes, which helps the podcast reach more people and grow our career community. You can also listen to the latest episodes anytime.
